May 15, 2002 - DNA Technologies Announces New Mexican Sales Agent
(Halifax, Canada) DNA Technologies, a division of CrossOff Incorporated (TSE:OFF), announced today that they have reached an agreement with Exaqt S.A de C.V. to represent DNA Technologies as a sales agent in Mexico.
Worldwide Counterfeiting is a growing concern. According to the Counterfeiting Intelligence Bureau, counterfeits now take an estimated 8 per cent of world trade. A global estimate for counterfeiting was in excess of $385 billion in 2001. In an effort to deter the sale of counterfeit luxury products, DNA Technologies has been working with brand and intellectual property owners concerned with the production of fraudulent merchandise.
Exaqt, based in Mexico City, has over 10 years of expertise in the security business and is well known and respected in the industry. Their background is in electronic security systems and anti-shoplifting devices, and more recently in provisioning security and authentication technologies. With extensive contacts in Mexico, the agreement will see Exaqt selling DNA Technologies' anti-counterfeiting and brand protection solutions to the fashion, collectible art and luxury goods industries.
"The expansion of our world-wide network of sales agents efficiently deploys the DNA-based tracking solution to our target markets," says Thomas A. Nicolette, President of DNA Technologies. "We are confident that Exaqt will be an effective representative to help grow our business in the rapidly expanding Mexican market."
